About Sue Lucine

My work reflects the stark and immediate imagery of the German expressionists such as Egon Shiele. His ravaged studies fascinate me.

I am also influenced by Vincent Van Gogh, his lively use of paint and his curious subject matter appeal to me.

I recently realised a Dream by going to Amsterdam to see Vincent’s Sunflowers.
Apparently, on seeing the painting, the blood drained from my face as I stood there transfixed ashen grey.

I find myself being inspired by flowers and fruits and have done several still-life studies.
I love natural form the lines are so suggestive, lines twist and turn with a mind of their own.
For me it begs the question “What Immortal Hand or Eye” indeed… and I am delighted with the outcome of these works.
